In her first solo exhibition, Dr. Kirsty Smith explores the deeply ritualistic and folk-like traditions embedded within skateboarding culture, particularly through its visual narratives. Drawing upon her PhD research in Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art, this beautifully visualized body of work examines how skateboarding - much like traditional folk practices - carries a deep-rooted sense of community, shared customs, and unwritten rules passed down through generations.
This is an exhibition like no other we have staged, so keep an eye on instagram for official event dates and opening times for this exciting transition of our gallery space!
