Chris Turrell, Postcards from the King's Roads

A collection of scenes from behind the sky and the other side of the rain.

A recent exhibitor at Collect Open 2025 at Somerset House in London, Christopher now turns his focus to the concept of the King's Roads in Susanna Clarke's novel, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

Captivated by the idea of these pathways leading to other realms, he has created a series of ceramic postcards that draw on themes of medieval architecture, mythology, folklore, magic and the landscapes of places like Dungeness, where Derek Jarman lived at Prospect Cottage.

Christopher's work explores buildings, patterns and landscapes that inspire a sense of possibility and potential. Crafted in stoneware clay, these wall pieces evoke the essence of stone, earth and magic
