LedgeLore is an analogue photography and moving-image exhibition exploring skateboarding, folklore, and the camera’s role in turning ordinary places into legends.
To celebrate the staging of this genre-crossing exhibition, join us alongside artist, academic, and skater Kirsty Smith for a action-packed day exploring skate mythologies through workshops, talks, and competitions. Kirsty will be joined by skate photographer Leo Sharpand Marc Churchill—skateboarder and commentator for BBC Sport, Red Bull, World Skate, Street League, and Vans.
We will also have exclusive furniture and artifacts in the shop from local maker Ollie Finn, who crafts beautiful work from upcyled skateboard decks.

Explore a visual chronicle documenting the inception, fundraising, construction, and grand opening of our community's skatepark.
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Drop-In Skate Photography Session & Competition(Ashburton Skate Park)
Join us at the park for a free hands-on skate photography session. Shoot on your phone—absolutely no experience needed, and no age limit, up or down! This is a free community event for everyone. Upload your work to enter our skate photography challenge for a chance to win prizes on the day.
4:00 PM | Panel Discussion: Skate Media & Culture
Join our expert panel as they discuss skate media and their different approaches to capturing the action—both in images and in words. The panel will explore the broader skate community and open the floor to questions from the audience.
5:00 PM | Archival Film Screening & Prize Giving
Join us for a short screening of the original Ashburton Rollers film and spot familiar faces from when they were just starting to skate. We will wrap up the day with the prize-giving ceremony for the skate photography competition.
