Wand Making Workshop for adults with artist Tamsin Loveday

  • Field System 13 West Street Ashburton, Newton Abbot United Kingdom (map)

Join artist Tamsin Loveday for a gentle afternoon of relaxed creativity in this wand making workshop. Explore the art of making hand-held sculptures that combine intuitive selection of materials and the magnetism of a good stick.

Using a myriad of threads and found objects we will weave and wrap wands that have their own story to tell. During the afternoon, Tamsin will lead conversations around the relationship between intuition and intention, attraction and symbolism, and talk about the use of threads in may kinds of bindings throughout her artistic practice. Leaning into examples from contemporary art and writings from contemporary magical practitioners , we will consider what it means to make energetically active objects.

If you are a creatively curious beachcomber or road-comber with a bowl of treasures you don’t know what to do with, and you can’t resist the allure of a really great stick, this workshop is for you. Because “art is magic”, right?!

This workshop will last about 2.5 hours, includes materials, but do please bring your own if you would like to work with your own ‘collection’! At the end of the workshop you will have your own wand full of creativity and magic to take away! Limited places, book here.
