Wands and Story Sticks Workshop (for families, children MUST be accompanied by responsible adult)

  • Field System 13 West Street Ashburton, Newton Abbot United Kingdom (map)

There are two chances to join artist Tamsin Loveday to make wands and story sticks in this relaxed and playful creative workshop. Choose from 10am-11am or 11.30am-12.30pm.

Using found sticks combined with an eclectic stash of small objects and assorted threads, weave your narrative together until your wand takes shape. Tamsin regularly makes hand held sculptures she calls "wands" in an intuitive process using materials and objects she finds lying around, often during walks. In a practice akin to making Aboriginal Journey Sticks and Shamans Wands, Tamsin considers these art objects to be a kind of Binding. The wands encapsulate a moment and feeling in time and place, and are usually playful.

Whether your wand is for casting spells or charming Dartmoor Pixies, it will be magically and uniquely yours!

Suitable for ages 8 and up, this workshop will last around one hour, includes materials and you will be able to take away your own wand! Family ticket available, please note children under 14 must be accompanied. Book here.
