William Morris print by Thomas Sharp
A limited edition print of 40, signed and numbered and created as a tribute to William Morris.
Text as wallpaper. A 26 word block is repeated ten times. The rivers between the words create organic tendrils, the commas on the central column mimic the thorns you find hidden in Morris’s designs. You can read the piece in a block, or from left to right. Thomas saya, “It’s about how we ignore revolutionary ideas in favour of pretty decoration.”
Set in Morris’s Golden Type. Printed on 270gsm, British-made, uncoated, acid-free paper.
(Off-white paper, black ink, 30cm x 30cm)
Thomas Sharp self-publishes his work, releasing limited-edition, beautifully crafted book projects every few months and gifting them to his audience in the Blakean tradition. He creates free, one-night-only Happenings. These have included a conceptual sculpture installation in Covent Garden and a metaModernism chess and video experience in Park Village Studios in Camden. Every four years he and a group of conspirators plant a perfect circle of handmade bronze mushrooms around London’s Square Mile, the world’s largest faery ring. He has been commissioned by the British Library, Global Witness, St Martin-in-the-Fields, London Fire Brigade, English National Ballet and Historic Royal Palaces. This year he is the first ever official poet for Turner’s House in Richmond.
